Fast Technology news on July 23, researchers in Arizona, USA, recently launched a robot “Andy” that can breathe, tremble and sweat, to study various changes in the human body when faced with extreme environments.

It is understood that thousands of people die from heatstroke and other heat-related diseases in the United States every year, and due to climate change in recent years, this number continues to rise. In Maricopa County, Arizona, 425 people will die in 2022 from extremely serious diseases related to medical problems.

Currently, there are 10 “Andy” mannequin robots in the world. Many of the robots are affiliated with sportswear manufacturers and used for testing.

Andy was developed primarily to give researchers a better understanding of how heat affects the human body and what makes hot weather so deadly.

In addition, “Andy” can mimic the thermal function of the human body, with 35 different surface areas, all of which are individually controlled by temperature sensors, heat flux sensors, and pores that produce sweat.

This summer, “Andy” will team up with MaRTy, a biometeorological thermal robot developed by scientists. MaRTy reveals how changes in the built environment alter the amount of heat transferred to the body, while “Andy” reveals how the body responds to heat.
